Because the Packers aren’t playing. Bam.
Just kidding. Sort of. I grew up in Wisconsin, so I feel the need to be a Packers fan by default. In truth, I really don’t care much for the game of football. I don’t get all the rules, I hate that so much is subjective on the whim of a referee, and let’s face it – I’m really just here for the food. My dad, though, grew up in New England and as a man who enjoyed watching most sports, he was a Patriots fan through and through. He was always kind and fair – quick to remind me that it was only a game and that he was happy to watch no matter who was playing and who won. And since we lived in Wisconsin, he always claimed he was a Packers fan too. But this was his team, from his home of Massachusetts, and so we always cheered them on when they played.
So on this day, I root for the Patriots. For you, dad, because I know in some way, you’re up there rooting for them too. <3
