I received these Nuby teethers for free in exchange for this review. All opinions are completely my own.
There’s nothing I love more than a teething baby! Well, actually, that’s not true. I mean, I love my baby, but teething is just so hard on all of us. It makes our nights a little less restful and it makes my baby just a little more grumpy. Caleb started showing teething symptoms early on, so it was a pretty good indication that his teething journey might be quite a bit different than his brother’s (which was easy peasy). I wanted to make sure that we were armed with some great teethers around the house to make Caleb as comfortable as possible. Nuby is one of our go-to brands for things we need at every stage, so I thought I’d check out what they have in their teether lineup. And goodness, do they have some good ones.
I wanted to highlight four of our favorite Nuby teethers for you. Don’t miss the giveaway at the bottom of this post too! Nuby and I are giving away a set of their IcyBite Teether Keys to one reader! It’s the perfect opportunity to get one to try out!
Out of all the teethers I’m reviewing in this post, this set is probably my personal favorite. There’s something classic about this set, but I love the addition of its cooling technology. You can put this teether in the refrigerator. This allows the keys to get nice and cool, which can be soothing to the gums. And it’s a gentle cooling too, rather than a shocking cold like ice or something from the freezer might feel like.
I love that because of the size of these keys and the multiple teething surfaces, they can help with the eruption of front, middle and back teeth. So basically, it doesn’t matter which teeth Caleb has coming in, this teether will work like a charm.
The key ring is the perfect size for Caleb’s little hands. It’s easy for him to grip and he’s able to hold on without dropping it. So not only is it a great teether, but he’s working on his hand coordination too. And the bright colors are supposed to grab baby’s attention and stimulate his senses.
This teether is free of BPA, phthalates, PVCs and latex. Cleaning it is super easy. All you have to do is wash it in warm water and mild soap and then rinse clean.
It’s also really inexpensive for its size – the IcyBite teether runs just under $5. You can purchase it on Amazon or at other retailers like Wal-Mart and Babies ‘R Us.
These teethers come in packs of two, which is great because I always seem to be losing one. We keep them in different areas in the house and sometimes even in the diaper bag or car seat for when we go out. Caleb loves these Comfy Gum teethers so much! They seem super durable and they’re really going to last us a long time.
They’re the perfect size for his little hands. Not too heavy or too big and they’re the perfect shape for him to hold on to. These teethers are made out of 100% silicone and have multiple teething surfaces. The textured bumps, or bristles, make Caleb’s gums feel a little better when they’re bothering him.
The Comfy Gums teethers come in several bright colors. We have a blue one and a green one. I think the color helps grab Caleb’s attention when I’m handing it to him. Now that he’s showing more emotions, he gets this huge smile on his face when he sees this teether in my hand.
You can get these teethers at Babies ‘R Us and on Amazon.
The NanaNubs Massager from Nuby is such a super cute teether. It’s made from BPA-free 100% silicone. Although it’s recommended for babies as young as 3 months, I found that I had to help Caleb hold it in his mouth as long as he wanted to chew on it. We started using it right around 3 months old. Now that he’s a couple months older, he can hold this teether himself with no issues.
The banana portion of this teether has little bristles. This is great for two reasons – it’s massaging and soothing to the gums and it also helps clean the gums a little bit too. This will also come in handy as Caleb starts to get teeth. These bristle help give just the right amount of gentle cleaning those baby teeth need. It has 360 degree bristles, which means that any way Caleb holds this, he’s able to use the bristles to massage his gums.
My favorite part (Caleb’s too) about this teether is that the banana peel is formed to make little handles. He tend to get distracted with the chewing part of it that he forgets he has to hold onto the teether in order to keep it in his mouth. The handles help him keep a better grip on it than other teethers. And they’re great for chewing on too.
You can get the NanaNubs Massager from Amazon and Wal-Mart.
Nuby Happy Hands Teething Mitten
The Nuby Happy Hands Teething Mitten is intentionally designed for littles who have trouble holding regular teethers in their hands. Recommended for babies 3 months and older, it’s perfect for littles like Caleb who are still working on their grip. Caleb has gotten much better at holing onto things for a long period of time, but a month or two ago, he wasn’t that great at it. This teething mitten is perfect, because it can be fitted to stay on.
It can be worn on either hand and gets secured on with a Velcro strap. My only caveat is that you have to make sure you get it as snug as possible. Now that Caleb is 5.5 months old, he can sometimes pull the mitten off. When he was a little younger, though, he wasn’t able to do that.
Caleb loves to chew on his hands a lot. This teething mitten protects his hands in addition to being a teether. It’s made with a BPA-free silicone, which is soothing to his gums. And he loves the crinkling sound it makes – it always makes him giggle and smile and really captures his attention.
This mitten comes in 4 different colors and includes a hygienic travel bag. My favorite is the gray color, because I’m naturally drawn to monochromatic and minimalistic toys and accessories for my kids, and the gray fits right in with that. But it’s also available in brighter colors too. The travel bag is awesome. I feel like my diaper bag always has crumbs in it no matter how many times I clean it out, so the bag helps keep the teether clean for when Caleb wants to play with it.
The Nuby Happy Hands Teething Mitten can be purchased on Amazon.
