The hard truth? I’m a mess. On the outside, I may appear like I have it all together. Carting around two littles like I’m a pro. But the inside me has rising levels of anxiety nearly every time we get ready to leave the house. I feel like I always arrive frazzled, schlepping all our baby gear, Liam’s snacks and approximately 634587 other things we probably won’t use but are along for the ride just in case. How do all you moms with multiple littles do it? I feel like I’m still figuring out how to handle our new normal. What I’m most thankful for, though, is for mama friends who give me grace and are willing to help me out a little bit when I so clearly need it. Like at last Saturday’s pool party event with 614 Mom at Goldfish Swim School.
I’m not exactly sure what I was thinking. I mean, me, taking two kids who can’t swim to a pool party by myself. Right? The crazy is alive and well over here.
But you know what?
I survived.
We survived.
No one got lost or injured. No one got dunked underwater accidentally while I was busy paying attention to the other child (seriously my biggest fear).
And best of all, we had a blast.
The event was set up like a birthday party. So if you’ve ever considered throwing your child’s birthday party at Goldfish, I think it’s a great choice! It was really nice to have the place all to ourselves along with some important safety measures like lifeguards and lifejackets for anyone who wanted or needed them.
The pool party was put on by 614 Mom, a city-wide group for moms in the Columbus area. It was just one event out of many play dates, fun events and moms’ night outs that 614 Mom has planned. If you’re local to Columbus, I really encourage you to check out 614 Mom and join us sometime for a future event.
A special thanks to Goldfish Swim School for hosting us and to Nothing Bundt Cakes and Too Good Eats for treating us to some yummy goodies after our swim. Too Good Eats makes these amazing popsicles with tons of organic fruits and veggies in them. They also make baby food, so I’m definitely making a point to try them out again once Caleb is ready for solid food.
And, obviously, you can never go wrong with cake. Especially these adorable mini bundt cakes. Photo of the bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes was taken by Lindsay of Find Where you Fit. Liam ate his too fast for me to grab a photo of it. And, you know, my hands were full.
Liam is still talking about how much fun he had. I’d call the pool party a huge success!
