Family time is hard to come by, even when your kids are young. If it’s not extracurriculars and homework you’re scheduling around, it’s play dates and nap time. But it’s so important to teach your kids the value of quality time as early as possible. Because they grow up too fast not to take every precious moment to connect with them. Enter Koala-T Time, a product I only recently heard about but already love. It’s a cute name, for sure, but that’s also exactly what it does. It’s a subscription box designed to help you carve out quality time with your family.
Each monthly box from Koala-T Time includes weekly activities, instruction card for parents and an additional special activity. Each week, you can play or do the activity with your child and focus on the specific topic introduced by that activity. You can talk to your child about what you’re doing and why you’re doing it as you’re having fun. We received the February box, which was the “kitchen stuff” box. So all of the activities had something to do with food or spending time in the kitchen.
Koala-T-Time subscriptions are really geared towards children ages 5-8. However, a lot of the lessons are still good for younger children to learn. It was fairly simple to adapt each activity so that Liam could still learn the basic principle. The company also plans to expand its products to include other age groups outside of 5-8 years old.
The topics for this month were “perseverance,” “communication,” “creativity,” and “safety”. I think Liam’s favorite was the “communication” week because the activity included little food pieces we had to put on a plate. This was probably the most difficult activity for him because it required him to listen well. And he’s three, so we all know how that went.
The other activities included a game of chutes and ladders to teach kitchen safety, a drawing activity and a little game where you had to balance a ball on a spoon. Each lesson/activity also included some conversation starter questions. So not only did we get to have fun, but we were able to talk about it too.
My favorite was the special Koala-T Time activity included in the box. Breakfast is our favorite meal in our house, so I was delighted to see that we would be making pancakes. Truthfully, my pancake-making skills are no where near as food as Jamie’s (who was at work), but Liam and I still had lots of fun. I even attempted making a few fun shapes. And, of course, I had the cutest little helper. This awesome chef’s hat was included in our box. Isn’t it great?
Overall, we really enjoyed the activities in the box! I’m excited to see what a box designed specifically for toddler ages will look like. But again, everything was totally adaptable to different age groups.
This box is a great starting point for families to spend more time together. Some of the activities you can do multiple times, which is great. You can also use it to inspire you to create some of your own hands-on, intentional learning experiences at home too.
You can sign up for your own Koala-T Time subscription on their website. They’re on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook also! You can head over there to see more photos of their boxes in action. Let me know if you decide to sign up for a box – I’d love to hear what kinds of things you’re learning each month!
We received this subscription box for free for this review, but these opinions and images are completely my own.
