I feel like Liam did a lot of living in pajamas as a baby. He was born in the fall, so it was just easier going from house to car to wherever. I didn’t think we’d use them much for Caleb, being a spring baby and all. Goodness, was I wrong. While it’s true that he doesn’t wear them out of the house much, he does wear them inside more than I anticipated. I don’t always put him in a sleep sack or swaddle when he sleeps. But since the air conditioning keeps our house pretty cool, I want him to stay nice and cozy. Especially for sleeping times. I received a couple of GoumiAlls for free from GoumiKids to try out and goodness, these things are a hit around here.
If you remember, I reviewed the baby mitts from GoumiKids last month. Well, the GoumiAlls have the same GoumiMitt features built in. While you can leave your baby’s hands out (which I sometimes do), you can also fold over the mitts to protect his face from scratches. The high contrast black and white pattern on the flipped side is supposed to stimulate brain and eye development. Caleb likes to suck on his hands quite a bit (I think he’s teething), and I think he likes the added texture of the pattern too.
The GoumiAlls are made out of a 70% bamboo and 30% organic cotton blend. This fabric is so buttery soft. I also generally find that clothes made with this type of blend are really gentle on sensitive skin. Not to mention that it’s naturally antimicrobial and breathable to help keep baby from overheating. They’re also more my style than, say….Paw Patrol (insert sad face because my toddler is now very opinionated on what he wears).
In addition to the mitt feature for the hands, there’s a similar option by the feet. You can leave them unfolded to keep your baby cooler, or fold them over their feet for a footed pajama look. We like to sleep with the fan on in our bedroom, so I usually keep Caleb’s flipped for a little extra warmth. In the larger sizes of GoumiAlls, you can actually get a gripped pattern on the bottom of the feet. This way, as your baby starts becoming more mobile, you don’t have to worry about them slipping on the floor.
Another thing I love about the GoumiAlls is how easy it is to change diapers. Especially in the middle of the night. In regular pajamas, I always seem to miss a snap and have to try all over again. But with the GoumiAlls, there are only three snaps on the back of the ‘Alls. They call this an “integrated bum flap”. So all you have to do is unsnap the flap in the back, pull the baby’s feet out of the GoumiAlls to change his diaper and then put the ‘Alls back on. Heck, I don’t even snap all three snaps when I’m done. I usually just do one or two, because at 3 a.m., that’s good enough for me.
I do find that it’s taken me a little while to get used to changing Caleb’s diaper this way. It can be a tight fit trying to get his legs up and out of the bum flap, but the more I do it I’m able to figure it out.
Sizing-wise, I think the GoumiAlls are pretty true-to-size. Caleb is right on the tail end of being done with his 3 month clothes. His 0-3 month GoumiAlls still fit without being too tight around his tummy. Which is super adorable and chubby. He’s about 25 percentile for height and there’s definitely another inch or two of room left in the legs. So even if your child is quite long, my guess is that they will still fit pretty true-to-size. The only thing I’ve noticed is that the bigger he’s gotten, the harder it is to get his legs and knees out through the bum flap for diaper changes. It’s not impossible, but just a little trickier than when he was smaller.
You can purchase GoumiAlls in three different colors/prints right on the GoumiKids website and you can use this (affiliate) link to get 10% off your purchase! They come in three different colors: grey (school of fish), mint (waddle) and pink (waddle). The prints appear only on the mitts or feet, so the rest of the ‘Alls are pretty neutral. All of the GoumiAlls can be purchased in a larger size with extra grip on the soles for mobile babies.
All in all, we’re very happy with our GoumiAlls. If you get a set, stop back by and let me know how you like them!
