Open to whatever gets baby girl here safely, but hoping and preparing for a VBA2C

Honestly, this birth plan hasn’t changed much since baby number 1, but my confidence going into this delivery sure has. That, and surrounding myself with a team of people who are all on board and supportive with a TOLAC/VBA2C.

Pre-hospital plan: labor at home as long as possible
Post-birth requests: delayed cord clamping, delayed bath, no eye ointment (our hospital already does immediate skin-to-skin, rooming in, etc), save placenta
C-section requests: clear drape, immediate skin-to-skin, photographer + doula allowed into OR

Do you need to bring a birth plan with you to the hospital? Nope! But I highly recommend it. For one, while talking over your desires with your doctor or midwife is helpful, they’re not actually going to be the ones spending time with you throughout labor. Having a birth plan available for your team ensures that everyone is on the same page and that they know your desires for this labor/birth without you having to explain it to every person who walks through the door. And as someone who has had two 40+ hour labors, that’s a lot of shift changes. It’s also super reassuring when a new nurse walks in who’s clearly looked over your birth plan - definitely makes you feel seen and heard. I also think it’s helpful when you have certain requests that aren’t necessarily the norm or routine. Again, it’s all about making sure that everyone is on the same page.

It’s been so cold this week (the kids have even been off school for a couple days because of how chilly it’s been), but I’m still getting my steps in 🙌🏻 One thing I’ve been trying to prioritize this pregnancy is movement, especially when I absolutely would rather be napping. I’m loving our new @deerrun_official treadmill. It can be used as a walking pad or a regular treadmill, runs pretty quietly and has a phone/book stand. There’s also an app you can use to track your workouts. When folded, it slides right under our bed too. They’ve got a great sale going on right now for Valentine’s Day - it’s a good way to save if you’ve been looking to get a treadmill!

Of all the things I’d change if we were to ever build again, the amount of windows we added to our home is definitely not one of them. I love having room after room of natural light throughout the day. This one is my current favorite view (probably because between early bedtime and naps, this mama has been spending a lot of time in this room)

37 weeks 🤗 Hospital bag still unpacked. Car seat still not purchased. Should probably wash some baby clothes or something. I am the LEAST prepared for this baby but at the same time feel totally at peace about it 🤣

They had so many delicious pastries and gelato to choose from along with a pretty extensive drink menu that included all the usuals, plus smoothies and milk shakes. Don’t overlook their new year flavors too, like their margarita matcha and turmeric hot chocolate. I had a dirty chai, which is the perfect choice for someone who loves chai but doesn’t want to skip the caffeine boost either.

One good thing about clearing out all the baby things because you’re maybe probably done having kids, but then getting the sweetest surprise baby is that you get to shop for all the new baby things (but with the expertise of a seasoned parent). I actually really wanted the @guavafamily Lotus Travel Crib with Hannah and definitely had some regrets about not getting it every time we had to lug around our portable crib when we traveled. So this was definitely at the top of my list this time around. It weighs in at only 15 pounds - I can easily lift and carry it myself, and it’s significantly more compact than what we had previously. A must when you’re limited on space in the car for road trips. I also opted for their nap + fun shade - it has UPF50+ protection, which I think will definitely be important at the park and the ball field this summer.

My sizing recommendation: order your regular size for a loose/oversized fit, size down for a more fitted look. I’m wearing an XL and I still have plenty of room for the bump. Definitely could have gotten away with sizing down to a L for both the top and bottoms, even being super pregnant. Hannah’s wearing their 4-5 size and I’d also say that they run a little bit large, especially the pants.

All jokes aside, I’m so thankful to have fairly easy pregnancies (aside from heightened stress + anxiety) and physically usually feel great all the way through. But also, breathing is hard. No, I’m not sleeping well. And my tolerance for excess noise and kid chaos is at an all time low 😬

36 weeks today and baby had her last u/s sound today. She looks great!
